Michael Jackson’s Glove

In May, 1983 Michael Jackson” performed probably his most memorable performance at the Motown 25th Anniversary Show. He sang “Billie Jean” and this was the beginning of his famous glove, on his left hand no less. In addition, he showed the world his moonwalk, of which I never mastered.

His glove became his signature trademark for the rest of his carrier. He did wear the glove on his right at times, but the debut was His Left Hand! Two of his gloves are currently up for auction and are rumored to bring six figures.

Michael’s talent and music will live forever. Although MJ was not left handed, we will never forget that he was a southpaw in his most famous performance of all time (kinda ;))

To Be Or Not To Be Left Handed

As I mentioned in my last blog, there are and have been many famous left handed actors. Lefty Charlie Chaplin begun the acting list of southpaws on screen and was also a notable film maker.

Other left handed actors include; Robert Redford, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, Jim Carrey, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Nicole Kidman. Just to name a few. Check out a list of other famous lefties at Left Handed Birthdays. Their left handeded brain seems to give them the dramatic flair needed to be successful in the world of show business. If you are interested in an acting career I recommend you get Knock ‘Em Dead Acting by Holly Venable or Acting Out by Stuart Stone. These are two excellent online resources to get you started.

If you want to see lefty Tom Cruise dance in his underwear or Julia Roberts strut her stuff in Pretty Woman check out my youtube videos at Left Handed Actors. Acting and being left handed seem to make a perfect fit.

Recent surveys suggest that the percentage of lefties in the world has climbed to 12% or even as high as 15%. I guess it’s cool to be left handed!

To Bad Everyone’s Not Left Handed

There are so many advantages to being left handed that a single blog is probably not long enough. From using the creative right side of our brain to an unlimited number of famous left handed people who have contributed to our society, being left handed is an awesome physical attribute to have.

The roughly 10% of the population that are left handed tend to enjoy the arts and music more than our right handed friends due to the way our left handed brain works. The sports world has also appreciated the contributions of fellow southpaws such as Babe Ruth, Martina Navratilova, Mark Spitz, Larry Bird, etc. Go to the movies and you can watch left handers like Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, and Robert DeNiro perform at the top level of the current box office performers.

Our world is definately a better place to live with the contributions of Leonardo Di Vinci, Ben Franklin, Henry Ford And Bill Gates. All left handed.

Not sure if you’re a true lefty? Go to my webpage on Left Handed Test and evaluate yourself or your family and friends.

Being left handed is such an increadible gift that we should  use our talent to help the world become a better place. Have you figured out what your contribution is or will be? Go to BeingLeftHanded.com and explore the possibilites.

Einstein – The Left Handed Person of the Century

On December 31, 1999 Time magazine named the most important people of the 20th century. On the top of the list was Albert Einstein, a southpaw. His contributions to science and technology throughout the century were without question, very important advances for mankind. He is best known for his theory of relativity and for that famous equation; Emc2

During his lifetime he published over 150 non-scientific works and over 300 scientific works. He was awarded the 1921 Noble prize in Physics.  His name (Einstein) alone is synonymous with genius (i.e. “Are you some kind of Einstein?” ).

Not only was he the left handed person of the century, he was also the Person Of The Century. If you are left handed you’re in a pretty impressive group of people. So go out and make you left handed mark upon the world!
