The Secrets of Left Handed Bowlers

Only 15 percent of professional bowlers are left handed. However, they collect 60 percent of all the earnings! This isn’t to shabby considering the top bowlers earn around $250,000 a year. (Makes us lefties want to go out and hit the bowling allies.)

The leading statistic for the southpaw advantage is that thousands of games are bowled on each bowling alley and since most are bowled by right handers the alleys develop miniscule grooves on the right side. Bowlers try to control their ball and if the ball falls into one of these grooves they loose the control they desire. The left side of the alley is cleaner and allows the left handed bowler more control.

In addition, if you are serious about left handed bowling you should have finger holes cut specifically for you hand. Off the rack balls tend to favor right handed bowlers.

Famous left handed bowlers include Earl Anthony, Mike McGarth, Marty Piraino, Fat Sam Trivett, and Roy Trivett.
